Knyhgt are a melodic rock AOR band from Italy taking influences from Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf and Danger Danger. ‘Destination Unknown’ is the second demo the band have put together taking two tracks re-mixed with new vocals from the original demo ‘Here Lies Rock N Roll’.
They make good use of keys and have some cool riffs, in particular the opening to ‘The Believer’. ‘Stop Me’ stands out from the rest here, and could be developed further with a little more emphasis on the guitars over the keyboard through the mix. But hey, they may have been going for a keys driven song so in that respect it works.
It must be tough for a band from a non English speaking country to sing in English and I don’t envy vocalist Tommaso Forni. He does a good job but unfortunately for a band like this to break out of their own territory it’s something that needs to be perfected. I’m not savaging the vocals, all I’m trying to say is you can tell English isn’t his first language. Once they nail that and get increasingly tighter as a band these songs will go to the next level.
Knyght are on the right path and they certainly are melodic rock but like any rock n roll band the focus has to be the riffs. If they can zero in on that and add the keys and the rest later they’ll have a very solid sound. This is a demo after all so they have a lot of room to move from a good basis.
