This is pretty regular, run of the mill stuff from Spanish band Hardreams. Everything here errs on the softer side of AOR melodic rock. Though Spanish, the vocals are very clear English and each song seems to have been written quite well but I can’t get away from the fact that this is a little hum drum.

I never like to bag an album out, it’s just sonically this isn’t doing it for me. I mean, there are some catchy choruses, a few good hooks and the riffs aren’t bad. The vocals are standard melodic AOR, mid-range fare and well, the whole thing is just a bit regular for me. ‘The Road Goes On’ is far from a bad album it’s just not my thing I’m afraid.

Where it does get me interested is on ‘Too Late’. It starts with an air-raid siren before exploding into a faster, edgier tune than the rest of the material. The organs give it that Deep Purple feel and the vocals have a far more dramatic approach. The guitars seem more menacing too and if the rest of the album were like this I’d probably be a whole lot more interested.

‘The Road Goes On’ is one for the melodic rock enthusiasts.
