From Copenhagen, underground rock act Alt have recently teamed up with acclaimed producer Paul Schroeder to produce their debut album and this taster of what’s come. The first track from this disc can be found as a 7” CD-single with two exclusive b-sides

Immediately springing to mind when I listen to these tracks is a bit of a Soundgarden vibe though the vocals are harsher and have more of a gravely tone. I like that a lot. Alt’s down-tuned guitar style has that stoner feel too especially on the slower tempo ‘Seeking The Shade’, a bit of a departure from the other three tracks.

Single ‘The Octaver Devil Pussy Truck’ is a punishing up front rock n roll song that even has a tiny hint of Velvet Revolver through the chorus to my ears. ‘Flags Are Illusions’ and ‘Seven Seven Seven’ have decent tempo’s and I quite like the simple riff and solo through the latter.

As a sample this is pretty good and shows what this band are about. I’m sure a full collection, on its way soon, will show us some more versatility that is hard to do in a 4 song promo. Alt play a strong, gritty style of rock with a good dose of Fu Manchu-fuzz over the guitars. Worth checking out.
