DirtyRock.net was launched in June 2007 as a bit of fun and a way of sharing what we love with like minded people.
Based in Adelaide, Australia the aim was to have an international focus along with the local. Something that in our neck of the woods at least, seemed to be missing. So I set out to do just that with some help from my friends ‘Rikki Stone’ ‘Izzy the Sleaze Stevens’ and ‘Vini Vagn’. All of us contribute in different ways but we welcome anyone else out there who wants to join the party whether you’re in a band or want to write.
Although in the main, dirty, sleazy rock n roll or “glam” will get a strong focus, the site is dedicated to all things rock from heavy metal to mellower classic rock and anything in between. We do draw the line somewhere but now and then we might just throw you a curve ball so be prepared!
For a long time I didn’t realise there were so many other people out there who liked the sort of stuff I do. Years ago, way before I met the other Dirty Rockers I was laughed at or derided for it but have now found a huge community out there. This site is for that rabid rock n roll community.
There are a lot of areas I’d like to see Dirty Rock go and hope to realise some of those ambitions by building on it everyday. Right now I’ve kept it simple with news, reviews, interviews and features (yes I’m developing more feature articles so stay tuned!). Down the track it could also be podcasts, videos, Dirty Rock clothing, competitions, compilation CD’s, events, promotions even a distribution company for all the bands you need to know!
Yeah I know that could take a long, long time but you don’t get anywhere without starting and that’s exactly what this is for now. Little by little new aspects will be added so you’re just gonna have to keep coming back!
As mentioned above, if you want to contribute no matter where you are in the world please do. If you’re in a band and want us to review your show or CD then contact us. We’ll try our best to help and if we can’t we’ll work something else out. Or if you want, send us a media kit of your band so we can get to know who you are!
