Nikki Sixx: There Are No Sixx: A.M. Tour Plans At This Point
November 11
Despite a published report from earlier this week that suggested MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx would head out on the road in early February with his new side project, SIXX: A.M., no such plans exist at this time, according to the bassist. Writing to his MySpace page, Nikki says, "There has been a lot of rumors that we might tour. I wanted you to hear from us directly that there are no tour plans at this point. This is a very magical project to us and we do plan on making other albums and the dream would be to tour some day, but that day is not as close as radio and press is announcing."
SIXX: A.M.'s only live show so far took place on October 25 as part of a Halloween-themed radio festival in West Valley City, Utah.
Sixx previously told The Pulse of Radio that he was reluctant to go on tour with SIXX: A.M. "There's really been some very cool bands throughout history that have made amazing music and haven't always toured," he said. "I don't know whether we'll tour or we'll do shows or what. This band is really talented. We can do acoustic shows, we can do special events, but to actually go out and tour it, I don't know. I'm open, but I don't know."
Twenty-five percent of Sixx's royalties from his recently published book, "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star", goes to Running Wild In The Night, a charity he established in conjunction with Covenant House to rescue homeless and runaway youth from the streets.
Sixx recorded a "soundtrack" album to the book with fellow musicians James Michael and D.J. Ashba.
