Rolling Stones film release date shifted

August 14

'Shine A Light' will go back to 2008

The Rolling Stones film directed by Martin Scorsese has had its release date put back.

'Shine A Light' was originally slated to be released on September 21, but will now be released in the US in April 2008.

According to a source close to Scorsese said: "It was a tight schedule. Everybody felt it was getting rushed."

Another factor in the postponement was that the band's current European tour doesn't finish until the end of August.

Paramount spokesperson Michael Vollman told Variety: "We think April is a better date for it. There's more time for the band to support it. We have a fantastic trailer and poster. We need time to get the movie out and permeate the marketplace."

The White Stripes' Jack White and Christina Aguilera are set to appear in the film, which was shot in New York in November 2006.
